I think Gavin is a really under-rater groover, let alone all the chops he can do. His DVD is great, but I prefer the grooving to the beat-displacement!!!

Speaking of Gavin - what are those great little splash/chime cymbals he uses in a set of 5 to his left? I have a similar setup of cup chimes, but that's not what he is using... Randy, did he e-mail you back about it? I'd like to know who makes them... here they are...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No I don't think they are. Like I said, I have the same setup of Paiste Cup Chimes, and they sound and look bit different... I suspect that he had Zildjian custom make these for him in specific pitches... 4 sound like bells and one sounds like a small splash...

I could very well be mistaken, but those do look more like small splashes [in differing diameters / pitches] to me...then again, now with a magnifying glass :cP, the "beveled" edges look like specialty "cup-bell-chime-splashes!"

My pleasure mate, it'd be a shame seeing them go to waste! He's such a player...

The last time I saw Gavin, he was using a set of Zildjian Crotales. They are pitched bells that usually come in octaves and mounted on a special stand. They are like traditional chimes but thicker and louder.
